While 2020 may not be a year to celebrate many things, it is June and you know what that means: Pride Month! It is time for members of the LGBTQ community to celebrate the freedom to be themselves. If you have a member of the LGBTQ community in your life, these rainbow rings are one of those gifts that make you happy. I mean, how can a rainbow make anyone angry?
Something To Celebrate
It’s been a hard year to celebrate in 2020. Most of us have been in lockdown for the past few months due to COVID-19, so many people are looking for something to raise their spirits. Pride Month, which started one year after the Stonewall Riots in 1969, is the perfect way to do that if you’re a member of the LGBTQ community or an ally. Hand out those presents too, as these rainbow rings are definitely gifts that make you happy.
Why The Rainbow?
Where did the rainbow idea come from as the symbol for gay pride? According to Insider, it goes all the way back to 1978. The LGBT pride flag was invented in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, a gay rights activist, army veteran, artist, and self-styled “gay Betsy Ross.” Baker made the flag for the Gay Freedom Pride Parade that year in San Francisco. This was done at the request of Harvey Milk, a gay city politician who was assassinated later that year.
Simple, Yet So Colorful
While these rings are definitely gifts that make you happy, they can serve many other purposes. They are stainless steel and definitely unisex. The rings can be used as wedding bands or rings, as well as engagement rings and promise rings. It is a definite way for the LGBTQ community to show their love for their partners. The rings are available from size 6 up to size 13. They are finished off with platinum plating in rainbow colors.
Let your rainbow flag fly, but on your fingers this Pride Month. You may not be able to go to any pride celebrations this year, but the rainbow rings are a great way to say you are thinking of them still!
